A small collection of papers of the Soldier's Memorial Society, an organization founded in Boston as a branch of the New England Freedmen's Aid Society. It was founded to "preserve the grateful memory of the soldiers of Mass." in the Civil War by collecting memorials for study and doing benevolent work at the seats of the war. The papers include statements of purpose, by-laws, and a letter to the group regarding the education of a young man.
